The single most important benefit of building an AI-enabled system is that you can upgrade its functionality without having to make any modifications to the hardware.
As we recently demonstrated with the VIA Mobile360 AI dash cam, such upgrades can be a lot more substantial than minor software tweaks and bug fixes. In response to customer feedback, we added three major features to the device to boost driver safety and provide fleet managers with deeper insights into vehicle usage.
With its support for Lane Departure Warning and Forward Collision Warning, the VIA Mobile360 D700 now detects potential danger on the road ahead and sends an audio alert to the driver to take immediate corrective action to prevent an accident. Should the customer require it, video footage of the incident combined with additional data extracted from the CAN bus can be saved for analysis by the fleet manager. In cases when a collision or other serious incident occurs, a real-time alert together with relevant video clips can be transmitted to the fleet management cloud for immediate follow up.
The new DMS (Driver Monitoring System) features on the VIA Mobile360 D700 further enhance safety by detecting risky and, in some cases, unlawful behaviors such as distracted driving, driver fatigue, smoking, and smartphone usage. By providing relevant and objective real-time data that can be synchronized with the cloud, these new features allow fleet managers to identify issues that can potentially impact the performance and health of their drivers and take the appropriate steps to address them.
As we receive more input from our customers, we will continue to enhance the functionality of the VIA Mobile360 D700 AI dash cam to meet their constantly evolving needs. Taking the AI upgrade path opens up boundless opportunities for improving the product.
