It was a great pleasure to visit the prestigious Taipei Municipal Renai Junior High School last Friday to learn about the program the institution has developed to educate its students about advanced technologies like AI.
The goal of the program, as the school principal emphasized during his presentation, goes beyond simply teaching students narrow technical skills such as how to code or build a robot. Its overall objective is to provide a holistic framework for students to improve their critical thinking and problem solving abilities so that they can harness technology tools to make a greater contribution to society.
Interest in the program was very high at the event, not just among educational officials and experts attending it in person, but also the hundreds of teachers from throughout the island who participated remotely.
Students from the school showed themselves to be highly enthusiastic as well when they took part in a class teaching them how to carry out shape and color recognition using the VIA Pixetto vision sensor.
The VIA Pixetto is a full HD vision sensor that combines object, color, shape and symbol recognition capabilities with a rich software application development and deep learning environment. It uses a UART interface to connect to any Arduino, Raspberry Pi, or micro:bit platform, and also includes an integrated microphone, USB2.0 port, SD card slot, and 802.11 b/g/n Wi-Fi.
We plan to officially launch the VIA Pixetto vision sensor on the global market in the first week of June this year. Please feel free to contact us if you would like any preliminary information about it here.
