VIA approach to facial recognition system development

facial recognition system

One of the biggest challenges in developing facial recognition systems is that customer deployment needs are so diverse that it’s not possible to create a single standard device. Our approach, therefore, is focused on providing a family of systems designed for different market segments and provide ample room for additional hardware, software, and cloud connectivity customizations to meet specific installation requirements.

Our facial recognition system hardware is powered by the Qualcomm® Snapdragon™ 820E embedded processor, which provides all the performance necessary for carrying out Edge AI facial recognition applications. The system hardware also enables a wealth of options for the integration of CSI, IP, and USB cameras, screens, and I/O peripherals. In addition to integrated wireless and Ethernet networking support, it even includes a SIM card slot for 4G connectivity in remote locations.

The system software and analytics package supports a wide range of features including facial recognition, emotion, age and gender detection, and people counting, as well as the ability to create white lists and black lists. An SDK with APIs that will enable developers to enhance their applications will be available shortly.
