Preparing for Embedded World 2018

Even though in HR-terms I’m on vacation, I’ve been spending a lot of my time in Moulton preparing all the marketing collateral for Embedded World 2018. There’s nothing like a long rural walk to clear the mind and get the creative juices flowing.

At least that’s what I tell myself as I sift through the specs of the products we are planning to display in order to make sure that they are all correct. Even after nearly thirty years of working in the industry, it never ceases to amaze me how easy it is for errors to creep in despite extensive checks by the R&D, product marketing, and marcom teams. No matter how hard you look, there’s always something that you miss.

Here’s hoping that some bright spark will come up with a smart AI algorithm for predicting and correcting mistakes in marketing materials. One that can write all the promotional copy and technical descriptions for me would also come in extremely handy. While companies like Automated Insights are already making some encouraging progress in the development of natural language processing for data-based financial press releases and earnings reports, there’s still a long way to go before such applications will be sophisticated enough for more creative freeform writing.

In the meantime, I will simply have to set my nose to the grindstone and hammer out the copy for our show materials the old-fashioned way on my computer keyboard. You can see all the latest updates on the VIA Embedded World 2018 landing page here. We have quite an extensive line-up of products this year covering the Smart Enterprise IoT, Smart Industry, Smart Retail, and Smart Building verticals – not to mention our new Smart Recognition Turnkey System based on Qualcomm® Snapdragon™ 820 quad-core processor.

Stay tuned for the latest updates as Embedded World 2018 approaches.
