“People mountain, people sea,” as the Chinese saying goes. CES 2017 certainly started off with quite a bang yesterday! There were huge throngs of visitors at the Sands where the OCF booth is located and plenty of interesting new stuff to see.
Judging by the vast array of smart home products on display, this market looks to set to take off this year now that the industry has started to figure out how to pull of the different pieces together. However, at the risk of sounding like a broken record, fragmentation is still a major issue. The only advice I can give to consumers is to make sure you understand which vendor ecosystem you are buying into and only purchase products that are compatible with it in order to ensure that all your smart home devices work together.
I had a very busy day at the OCF booth and have the aching muscles in my back, hips, and legs to prove it. It’s at times like this when I seriously wonder whether I am getting too old for this business!
I’m hoping that I will have a little more time today to take a closer look at some of the other exhibits at the Sands, including what appears to be a very lively 3D printing section. Let’s see what happens.
