Confucius said to his disciples: “My friends, do you think I am hiding something from you? I am hiding nothing at all. There is nothing I do without sharing it with you. That is my way.”
It’s not particularly surprising that at least some of his disciples suspected that Confucius had some mystical “secret sauce” that he was concealing from them. While extremely practical, his teachings lacked a spiritual dimension that a number of them must have been looking for.
