Beef noodles and Blue Bottle coffee

It feels great to be back in Taipei despite the searing heat and humidity. A bowl of beef noodles was enough to blow away the final traces of jet lag.

Thanks to a screw-up with my flight booking, I did succeed in trying a cup of Blue Bottle drip coffee at the company’s Mint Plaza store before heading for home. Its taste was absolutely divine and at $3 a cup it wasn’t as expensive as I had thought it would be.

The décor and ambience of the store were a lot more attractive than your average Starbucks too, though unfortunately it was far too crowded to sit back and relax in. Why do coffee shops in the US always seems to have such long lines? It’s almost as if a fifteen minute wait has been turned from a bug into a integral feature of the whole experience.
