Varanasi Dasashvamedha Ghat

The Dasashvamedha Ghat is one of the liveliest spots on the River Ganga in Varanasi, and is named after the ten horses that were sacrificed by the god Brahma to allow Shiva to return to the city after a period of exile.

One of the oldest ghats in the city, it’s the starting point for morning and evening boat rides along the river and an extremely popular bathing spot for devotees. On the Ghat there is also the small Shitala Mata temple, which people visit for cures from fevers and skin diseases.
