Jinguashi Golden Falls

The rocks may be golden in color at the Golden Falls on the road from the Nanya rock formations up to the village of Jinguashi, but this is due to ferric oxide and other pollutants from the old mines reacting with the water rather than a sign that a lode of the precious metal may be hidden somewhere close by.

Indeed, the composition of the water is so polluted that a website warns visitors: “The fall is located close to the roadway, so it may be tempting to put your hand in the water. Please refrain from doing so as it is heavily laden with metals and thus toxic.”
