Lintianshan (林田山) was once a thriving logging town built and managed by the Japanese colonists to strip the trees from the surrounding forests.

Although the logging stopped many years ago, the town still survives on nostalgia from those times as a popular destination for tourists that flock to see its charming old Japanese buildings and majestic mountain scenery.

Lintianshan is definitely worth stopping off at if you are staying in the Hualien area. It can be reached by road from Highway 9 and train (Wanrong [萬榮] Station).
