The Bronze Goat Temple features a plethora of Taoist iconography, including this carving featuring all the characters of the Chinese zodiac.
There are also two famous statues bronze statues of goats that were brought from Beijing during the Qing Dynasty. Somehow, I missed taking a photo of either of them but managed one of this rather magnificent specimen.
The Chinese characters青 (qing) and 羊 (yang) are quite ambiguous in meaning. 青 (qing) can mean anything from bronze to green, while羊 (yang) can denote anything from a goat to a lamb or even a ram. As a result, English translations of the temple’s name can vary.
