Confidence and arrogance

Confucius said: “A leader is confident but never arrogant. A petty person is arrogant but never confident.”

There’s a fine line between confidence and arrogance. Indeed, it can often be very difficult to distinguish between the two.

Confidence requires a foundation that helps keep you secure in the knowledge that you are following the right path. Arrogance, however, is based on feelings of insecurity caused by the certainty that one day you’ll get found out.
