Modern management clichés

子貢問君子。子曰:「先行其言,而後從之。」
Zigong asked what constitutes a leader. Confucius said: “Someone who practices what he preaches.”
子曰:「君子周而不比,小人比而不周。」
Confucius said: “A leader looks at a question from every perspective. A small-minded man looks at a question from his own perspective.”

Walk the Talk and Think Holistically: no matter how consultants and other assorted experts try to dress them up, modern management clichés are just respins of ancient leadership wisdom.

Confucius often compares the qualities of a leader (君子/jūnzǐ) with those of a small-minded man (小人/xiǎorén). This term is can also be translated as “small-minded”.
